The Executive Team
President and Chief Executive Officer
Chris Gladding joined Blue Sky Research in 2002 with over 18 years of multinational sales and marketing experience in the photonics and fiber optics industries. Before Blue Sky Research, Gladding was Senior Director of Global Accounts for JDS Uniphase, where he was responsible for all aspects of JDSU's business with all Cisco Systems sites and acquisitions worldwide. Prior to JDS Uniphase, Chris held the position of Senior Director of North American Sales for E-TEK Dynamics, and was part of the management team that successfully steered E-TEK's growth through an IPO that ultimately culminated in an $18 billion merger with JDS Uniphase. Earlier, Gladding was Global Sales and Marketing Manager for Laser Diode, Inc. (now part of Tyco), and a manufacturer of active fiber optic components including lasers, detectors, transmitters and receivers. Gladding has also held strategic sales positions with Optilas Ltd, R.R. Electronics (now Arrow), and Optronics, Ltd., all located in the UK.
Gladding is a graduate of Leeds Metropolitan University. He holds a Higher National Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and a Diploma in Advanced Engineering Mathematics.
Sandip (Bill) Basu
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Bill Basu joined Blue Sky Research in 2001, bringing over 17 years of financial experience with semiconductor and telecommunications companies. Basu came to Blue Sky Research from his position as Vice President of Finance and Administration at Avistar Communications, a video networking company. At Avistar, Basu was responsible for all financial planning and played a key role in guiding the company through a successful IPO in 2000. Prior to Avistar, Basu was CFO and VP of Operations at Intalk Inc., a wireless LAN company that was acquired by Nokia in 1999. Earlier, he held the position of Director of Finance and Operations at Silicon Systems, a data storage semiconductor company that was acquired by Texas Instruments in 1998.
Basu holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Santa Clara, and a BA in Economics from the University of Toronto.
Vice President of Applications and Product Engineering
Joe Kulakofsky joined Blue Sky Research in April, 2003, bringing over 20 years of engineering and marketing experience in the photonics, telecommunications and fiber optics industries. Kulakofsky is currently responsible for extending Blue Sky Research's laser engineering and manufacturing capabilities, defining and developing products that exceed customer requirements. Prior to Blue Sky Research, Kulakofsky was Director of the Technical Product Support Group at JDS Uniphase, where he handled all aspects of customer applications engineering and technical support. He previously served as manager of Technical Services and Applications Engineering for E-TEK Dynamics, and assisted in taking the company public through an IPO. Additionally, Kulakofsky has held several key marketing and technical positions with AT&T Microelectronics in the United States and Tokyo, Japan.
Kulakofsky holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University, School of Applied and Engineering Physics.
